Why Do Patients Avoid Procedures - General Surgeon, Dr. Taylor
Why Do Patients Avoid Procedures
One of the most common reasons that I hear folks do (avoid procedures) is because they don't have time. And they gotta take time off, they gotta work and they're busy and I certainly understand that. But, you know, I think that through all of this that we've learned in the last couple years with the pandemic, taking care of your own health in incredibly important. Making sure that you are caring for yourself is very important.
One of the other things people talk about is maybe they were never counseled or offered that. So it's important for patients to be educated about their own health and know what needs to be done, what kind of testing is available for t...

Can GERD Mimic other Diseases | Dr. Taylor in Smyrna, TN
Просмотров 124 месяца назад
GERD symptoms certainly can mimic other disease processes. One of the most concerning and deadly processes that I would be concerned about would be something called esophageal cancer. We certainly know that GERD is a risk factor for that. One of the most effective ways to evaluate for that would be with an EGD where a physician takes a scope with a camera and runs it down and actually takes a l...

Due to PPIs , I developed this list of problems Gastritis, esophagitis, colitis, proctitis, pooped chunks of food, severe L sided colic, multiple ER visits, inability to digest food, malnourishment, ripped a calf muscle going down stairs, broke my wrist and tore all the cartilage in my wrist and hand requiring surgery, depression, SI, weakness, delayed healing, brain fog, joint pain. While the GI decided the best course of treatment was to prescribe the strongest available. I threw them in the trash in July 2021, and I’m still working on my gut health. I now take betaine hcl with pepsin to help my stomach acid production.

Doctors are undereducated as fuck and it's embarrassing. Sine they have no idea how to treat conditions like GERD, they result to overprescribing PPIs without solving the problem. Sick and tired of being prescribed something that in itself, causes the same symptoms as the sickness I'm trying to recover from.

good idea to throw them out I also experienced big problems with them only been on them 5 days recently and lost about 4kg in jusst that time frame now put back on 1.3kg since stopping them as im starting to absorb nutrients again, but I had been on them years ago also for about 2 months, they can cause things like SIBO, vitamin B12, iron, calcium and magnesium deficiency and magnesium deficiency happens only 3 months after starting them I read other day guy was on them for 12 years and he had so little magnesium in his body he almost died, they can also cause C-diff which can be life threatening and pneumonia and also give you candida overgrowth. Dr's just will throw these things at you willy nilly and they just are shills for Big Pharma who doesnt really care about your health and wellbeing. I just drink Coconut Milk now for my GERD issues as I cant tolerate Dairy anymore. also I was on Omeprazole Actavis and I looked up the Ingredients of this and I seen Polysorbate 80 in there, you wanna steer clear of this they also use it in the Covid Vaccines, it alters your body from absorbing Calcium and Potassium properly, Mcdonalds use it in their crappy food too so Id avoid Macca's like the plague when you have GERD. now I know why I always react badly to their food. I now check all food labels on food I buy to make sure its not there as well as Carrageenan which is really bad for your intestines there was some other crap ingredients in the Capsule I couldnt even pronounce that havent heard of before and dont really wanna know about them tbh but I have a feeling they are poison anyway.

@@nightphilosopher honestly I just stopped taking them. I sleep more upright and really don’t even spicy foods or things to irritate it as much. I just recently after two years got another upper endoscopy and they told me my stomach ulcers healed and my throat went from grade D to grade C. • @JusThrowitDiscGolf
      @JusThrowitDiscGolf 4 месяца назад

@@nightphilosopher I started taking vitamins and also I learned you don’t want to lose your stomach acid but just make it more acidic so it can break down your food and ultimately help your sphincter close. There is a medicine you can take to increase the stomach acidity level. But I’m of course no doctor, I’m just saying you have to find out whether you have too much stomach acid or not enough. Was advised to drink 5 ounces of water with some baking soda and if you burp right away then you have too much stomach acid and if you didn’t you don’t have enough. Either way for me PPIs made it worse and if you can’t break down food anyway then why use PPIs and lessen your stomach acid. As I mentioned, I stopped taking it and somehow my stomach ulcers healed and my throat is healing. No bad stomach aches or bad heartburn

I'd had a little reflux during my pregnancy. I didn't know that pregnancy reflux can go away after pregnancy sometimes. My doctor immediately put me on max dosage PPI's and said I'd be taking them for the rest of my life, never told me there were any consequences. My blood iron level hit 2 micrograms, I asked if I should maybe get off the PPI's, she dismissed my concerns completely. I can't try going to another doctor, there is only one doctor who can prescribe medication for a two hour drive from my home. I'm now on a carnivore diet (even though she told me to go vegan with dairy) and hoping for the best, I've been on PPI's for 27 years of my life.

The absolute melting-from-within lava level acid reflux from Omeprazole withdrawal was horrible, but red delicious apples helped immensely. I had to sleep on my left side on a bed with a very elevated head for about a month. But, now, my stomach actually digests my food within an hour! Before, on Omeprazole, sometimes I'd wake up in the morning and I'd have slight reflux jump into my mouth, along with some of the food I'd eaten TWELVE hours ago, undigested! I'd told my doctor about it, but she said I had to be lying, because she believed that people can only experience something like that if they've had diabetes for at least 25+ years. One thing that shocked me about the Carnivore diet: I thought that eating fat would give me horrible reflux. Only hot fat, like in a piping hot steak, did.

I've had a hiatal hernia for 20 years and was given omeprazole to help the reflux. Now because of the omeprazole I'm dealing with severe magnesium deficiency. I'm going in next week for a endoscopy and I'm hoping the doctor will agree to this surgery. I can't stop the omeprazole, the refux is too bad. When i try its constant acid up to the back of my throat. I can't eat, drink even water, nothing else helps but omeprazole. I saved this video so i know what to ask for.

Hello, I have hiatal hernia for 5 years and severe GERD. Im taking PPI drugs and cant live without them. I wanted to ask you, how long do you take this drugs and after how long did you get magnesium deficiency? Does doctors have given you some solution on it? Sorry for asking but im worried about myself because i taking that medications for couple of years.

@RobertoK_99 I've taken omeprazole for 20 years. So it took about 20 years to become deficient in magnesium. Doctors are no help, they can't even agree on the cause and they have no interest in correcting the hiatal hernia. For now I'm just supplementing 2,000mg of magnesium a day. That is maintaining my blood magnesium levels at just below normal. I'm still low but not dangerously low. I also cannot stop taking the omeprazole.

@@TheLostTimeLady Thank you for your answer, good to hear that you somehow manage to level your magnesium levels but sad to hear that doctors cant help. And most I've heard regarding surgeries, they are not always successful unfortunately and there are rarely surgeons who are wiling to operate, especially here in my country (Croatia). I hope that you somehow find solution because I know how difficult is to live with this condition, my heartburns were so intense that I was choking in acid at night.

Hello Dr. Reynolds 🙋🏼‍♀️ thank you so much for your presentation. My gallbladder will be removed today and I just found your video. It is by far the clearest and most informative advise that is available online. It easily provided more information than any of my doctors have offered. ❤️ from 🇨🇦

I wish the doctor would address my concern. I have a sliding hiatal hernia. I am suppose to have the c-tif surgery. I really want to have it done. But I have had chronic constipation for 40 years. I'm concerned will the constipation just wind up causing the hiatal hernia to return? Really would appreciate feedback. Thank you.

Take magnesium and alot of it. Better then miralax, but that works too. Also senna. Or both combined. Also try Oxy Powder. Will clear you out and it's just oxygenated magnesium

Thank you very much for your reply. I have done tons of magnesium & senna 4 tablets in am 4 in pm all kinds of stuff. But the miralax works the best but I hate taking it knowing it is used in anti freeze & very high in oxalates. But if I take enough it works. But never did Oxy Powder. Can you recommend a brand and dosage? Thanks again!!@@jbone79

I just had this surgery, and this is THE BEST video I found online, which explained the procedure and risks so well. Mine went well, but not much was explained beforehand because I was an urgent ER admission. So, thank you. Well done video.
